  16. This document specifies a mechanism for passing environment
  17. information between a telnet client and server.  Use of this mechanism
  18. enables a telnet user to propagate configuration information to a
  19. remote host when connecting.  This memo is a product of the Telnet
  20. Working Group of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).
  21.  
  22. This is now a Proposed Standard Protocol.
  23.  
  24. This RFC specifies an IAB standards track protocol for the Internet
  25. community, and requests discussion and suggestions for improvements.
  26. Please refer to the current edition of the "IAB Official Protocol
  27. Standards" for the standardization state and status of this protocol.
  28. Distribution of this memo is unlimited.

  30. This announcement is sent to the IETF list and the RFC-DIST list.
